27 reported dead in Iranian suicide bombings
Two suicide bombers detonated bombs at a mosque in southeastern Iran today, killing 27 and leaving several hundred more injured. Accident Compensation.
The explosions occurred moments apart at a Shia mosque, killing both civilians and government officials from Iran's Revolutionary Guards. 27 people are confirmed dead, while reports of injuries totaled 270, and officials said the death toll is likely to rise.
The attacks were reportedly carried out by a Sunni rebel group, Jundallah, who said it was in retaliation for the execution of the group's leader, Abdolmalek Rigi, by the Iranian government in June.
The event which runs over two days included an overnight camp and covers approx thirty three miles and all participants have to operate in three person teams, navigate their way between checkpoints in set times using map and compass whilst walking/running along country roads/tracks/paths/forestry/moors etc.
The teams are scored by the equipment they carry with them, the time it takes their team to navigate between checkpoints and there are also tasks called “incidents” at each checkpoint that they have to undertake and are again scored accordingly. Such tasks can include map and compass skills, assault courses, puzzles, first aid, nature, country code etc.
